What Is The Purpose Of Fit Points On Weight Watchers
But WHY do I have so many FitPoints?
I don't plan to use them. I have the app synced up with my FitBit. Today I have 6659 steps and 9 FitPoints. This seems like an awful lot. Even for someone with my stats. From what I remember with the old system (back before the app, in the olden days of the sliding tracker) exercise points were a lot harder to come by.

You have so many fit points because the criteria WW uses to calculate them has decided that 6659 steps for a person of your height/weight/age equals 9 fit points. Basically the answer is "because WW said so"
But you're not encouraged to use your FitPoints anymore, so it doesn't really matter how many you get. I mean for your ego, yeah, but not for anything tangible.

I detached my Fitbit from the app. Now the only Fitpoints I count are when I work out. I don't count waking my dog, I don't count a stroll around the neighborhood. I'd better be suited up and short of breath to earn them.
level 2
That's definitely how they helped you to calculate them before. To take account of how quickly your breathing changed and how quickly you began to sweat.
And there was a program where they got you to consider whether you were sedentary at your job or whether you stood or walked a lot and then depending on those things your daily points might be different than someone else's. I liked that, because when I did 360 a few years back my job was super active and I didn't account for it, and I was starving. I figured out a few weeks in that I needed to add a few points on to account for work. Then I was fine.

I get soo many fitpoints from my Fitbit. I just aim for as high a number as possible. Last week I got 187.

Yesterday I got 32 fitpoints. They're just a metric you use to make sure you're getting enough physical activity. If you're passing the weekly goal, change it! I like making sure I hit it, just like I like getting blue dots.

What blue dots? Sorry, I just joined WW yesterday so I don't know everything yet.

I don't calculate them so I don't use them or - no weight loss for me. Fit points is my least favorite part.

I wish they would sort FitPoints out to make them make more sense. I feel like on the system two programs ago (I can't remember what it was called) they actually worked on a 1:1 exchange and I could use them and still lose weight. As someone who needs to exercise to lose and needs the motivation of a 1:1 swap, I just wish the system worked better.

I agree - it seems they hand them out way too easily now and if they supposedly don't encourage you to eat them anyway, then it's like why bother? I also had success, like 15 years ago, when I got activity points for working out, and it wouldn't be a lot, like 1 or 2, but I earned them and was able to use them without questioning if I was doing the right thing for weight loss. I realize diet is more a factor but I don't think they should disregard physical fitness.

Yes! When I did points plus in the mid 2000's I ate everything. All my fit points and all my bonus and I still lost 1lb a week.
It seems like they really messed with the fit points too much with this iteration. It should be way more straight forward.

FitPoints aren't the same are smart points or weeklies. If it says you earned 9 FitPoints, that is not what is added on to your "weeklies".
level 1
I don't eat my fitpoints, ever. And I work out a lot, over 100 FP per week. And I still lose only very slowly...so pretty much I just ignore the FP.
level 1
Can you tell me where you are seeing your fit points on the ap? I choose to not use them but I can't see what I'm earning.
level 2
On the IPhone app, it's the tab at the top that says Activity.

Wow! I run for 30 minutes 3 times a week and do an hour of aerial yoga twice a week, and I don't even get half way to my "goal" of 39 weekly points (each of those things only earns 3 points). What on Earth do you guys do for exercise???
level 2
Do you have your app synced to your fibit? I think this is where the over abundance of FitPoints come in. I've disconnected my device and now I'll see what happens when I do actual exercise!
